This listing features a VINTAGE, FIRST PRINTING poster which was created to promote a concert headlined by iconic Scottish
Singer-Songwriter, Donovan! The series of three shows took place from November 23rd to Nov. 25th, 1967. Due to Donovan's immense popularity at the time, the series of shows had to be held at both the Fillmore Auditorium and the Winterland Ballroom, both of which are in San Francisco. H.P. Lovecraft and Mother Earth were also on the star-studded concert bill.
The poster represents the 94th image from the iconic Bill Graham series and is commonly referred to as BG-94 or BG-94-OP-1. Its in incredible shape! Its hard to believe that this poster is over 50 years old! Rest assured...its the real deal! The poster was only printed once before the 1967 concert. It measures approximately 14" x 21 1/8" in size. The incredible artwork was done by renowned artist, Nicholas Kouninos.
When Donovan played the Fillmore, he noted "... it was clear to me that San Francisco had been my spiritual home in America before I'd even arrived." At the height of his popularity in late 1967, this Thanksgiving weekend concert was held at both the Fillmore and Winterland, and Kouninos' playing-card poster references the peace message of Donovan's music.
The vintage poster offered here is guaranteed to be in NM+ to MINT condition! Aside from a tiny, almost imperceptible nick to the top-left hand corner, this gorgeous poster STILL looks like it did when printed well over 50 years ago! Finding the poster in this condition is extremely difficult! Most young people in the 1960s era just didn't take care of their things...especially rock concert posters!
Many of the posters from the 1960's were hung on dorm room walls and/or telephone poles. This is a BIG reason why it's so difficult to find this poster in NM+ to MINT condition! The BG-94 poster offered here makes a great investment piece with significant upside potential!
