This listing features a vintage concert poster which was originally created in 1966 to promote the up-and-coming band known simply as "THEM". The show took place at the Fillmore Auditorium on June 23rd, 1966. The artwork was done by legendary poster artist, Wes Wilson.
British band Them (led by Van Morrison) made their first local appearance at this concert. Also appearing, The New Tweedy Brothers had the Haight-Ashbury spirit but never broke out of the San Francisco sound. Wes Wilson continued his experimentation with poster design, and the undulating 'picture frame' form suggests liquid light show splash effects.
This promotional poster was only the 12th poster from the iconic Bill Graham series and is commonly referred to as BG-12 or in this instance, BG-12-RP-2. The poster was printed only three times since June of 1966.
1. The pre-concert 1st printing poster has union logo 72 in the center of the bottom margin and measures 14" x 19 15/16" in size.

is the most common variation and bears the union logo " 183" in the center of the bottom margin. BG-RP-2 was printed after the 1966 concert.
3. This post-concert poster measures approximately 14 1/16" x 20" in size. And the scarce 3rd printing was printed on white paper with a blue reverse and measures 14" x 19 15/16" in size.
